BIMAN BIHARI DAS
BIMAN BIHARI DAS has the ability to create magic with bronze which has helped him win various awards including the National Award from Lalit Kala Akademy, New Delhi and the Best Sculptor Award from Sahitya Kala Parishad. He has also received the British Council Scholarship under Prof Jeffrey in 1973, and a Fulbright fellowship in 1997. His contribution to art and sculpture has been substantial, and to acknowledge his contribution he was awarded the prestigious Padma Shri from the Government of India in 2014.
Biman has held more than 40 solo exhibitions since 1968 both in India and International Art Centres in New York and Budapest. He has been part of numerous group exhibitions and Biennales in India and abroad including Belgium, Seoul, Japan and Moscow.
His works are in the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, Lalit Kala, Govt. Museum of Modern Art, Chandigarh. He is a part of collections across the world. He has been commissioned to do bronze pieces in a large number of international locations that include Brazil, Venezuela, Spain and Italy.
