Jiban Biswas embarked on his artistic career after graduating from College of Art Craft in Kolkata in 2001. Since then, Jiban’s artistic journey has been a process of constant experimentation and discovery. Jiban has been using animal as a representation of human instinct and exploring abstract vistas in the individual puzzle. JIBAN BISWAS’S EXHIBITIONS Ever since his graduation, Jiban’s work has been shown constantly in exhibitions around in India, Jiban’s solo shows in Kolkata, Lucknow, Delhi and Mumbai showcased some of Jiban’s more dramatic and tonal paintings as he introduced bold animal forms mixed with daily life settings onto his canvases. Jiban mostly paints from memories, and in this collection, he recalls trips to the far-flung areas of his village in West Bengal along the river Valus. In the consequent years he has done group shows in various galleries across India. Jiban is known for his striking and visceral portraiture of life. Working from found images, Jiban’s expressionist style formed raw and direct paintings. The finished quality of these paintings, as demonstrated in pieces such as Quality Time and Emotional Attachment communicates the singularity of the subject and the emotive tone of each piece of art.
